Members of the Northwest Hospital Foundation Corporation gathered for their annual meeting on Tuesday, October 6 where they learned about foundation activities over the past year as well as several UPMC Northwest achievements as well as both local and national health care trends.

In her report to the corporate membership, foundation board chair, Denise Jones, shared the organization’s top strategic goal: to improve awareness and perception of the Northwest Hospital Foundation. Some outcomes already achieved include changing the foundation’s name to the current ‘Northwest Hospital Foundation’; hiring a new executive director, Theresa Edder; developing branding via a new logo, marketing materials, website and social media presence; and establishing a Philanthropy Philosophy (P2) which is the guiding principle for fulfilling grant requests. Northwest Hospital Foundation Outlines Direction, Introduces New Director

The first several months of 2015 have been eventful for Venango County’s local hospital foundation, most notably with a new identity. The Northwest Hospital Foundation name was adopted in January, and the changes have kept coming ever since.

Denise Jones, longtime Venango County chief clerk/county administrator assumed leadership in January, and along with working on developing a new identity for the local, non-profit organization that exclusively supports UPMC Northwest, the board began a search for a new executive director to replace retiring executive Roger McCauley.

Local Hospital’s Foundation Introduces New Era of Servicing UPMC Northwest

Release #1Members of the current UPMC Northwest Foundation have been working diligently over the past year to determine the future course of the local, non-profit organization. Outgoing foundation board chair, Hope Bittner, shares that the foundation’s mission, and central core of all current and future efforts, remains the same: to enhance UPMC Northwest’s ability to provide high-quality health care for area residents. She reiterates that 100 percent of donations to the independent, locally-controlled foundation stay in the community and benefit only UPMC Northwest, adding, “Every year the foundation earmarks funds to assist patients who do not have the resources to pay their hospital expenses. Proceeds from recent years’ contributions have also been set aside for future equipment acquisitions, programs, services or other improvements at UPMC Northwest.”
